Natural Fiber All-in-One Cloth Diapers

There’s a reason why there are so many different options for cloth diapers: everyone has different favorites.  Our babies are shaped differently and have different outputs.  Rather than just expecting us all to use the same thing and like it, now we’re blessed with an overwhelming array of cloth diaper brands to choose from!  But even with different brands, there’s different styles, different fibers, etc.  If you’ve decided that you love the convenience of an all-in-one, but only want natural fibers touching your baby’s bum, then this is the post for you!  Here’s a break down of some natural fiber all-in-one cloth diapers.Natural Fiber All-in-One Cloth Diapers (Cloth Diaper Addicts)

Cotton Natural Fiber All-in-One Cloth diapers

Cotton seems to be the most common material used in natural fiber all-in-one cloth diapers.  There’s some great reasons for it.  It can be grown in the States, so it’s easier for companies that are committed to using North American grown materials whenever possible to do so.  It’s familiar.  It’s not inclined to stink.  It can be created without using chemicals.  The only disadvantages to cotton all-in-one cloth diapers is that cotton is more prone to staining (which is, of course, fixable) and developing holes over time.

Blueberry Simplex

blueberry-simplex-innerBlueberry Simplex is an all-in-one diaper made with Birdseye cotton.  This particular all-in-one diaper is a “tongue style” all-in-one, so you’ll need to stuff it with the attached soaker.  If you want stay dry, flip the tongue on top instead of stuffing for a layer of microfleece to wick away the moisture.  If you only want natural fibers against the baby, stuff the tongue in the pocket.  The Blueberry Simplex is available as a one size with standard snaps, or in a sized version with side snaps.

bumGenius Elemental

bumgenius-elementalbumGenius Elemental is an all-in-one that uses only organic cotton.  There are two incarnations – the old style (OBGE) had no exposed PUL, but had slower drying time.  The newer style (NBGE) has exposed PUL under the organic cotton layers, but dries faster because of it.  Both versions of the bumGenius Elemental are one size diapers.

GroVia All-in-One

grovia-aioThe GroVia all-in-one diaper is a one size all-in-one diaper with an organic cotton soaker.  The soaker is actually the length of the diaper and lies right on top.  No flipping or folding necessary.  In order to accommodate for heavier wetters, the GroVia All-in-One comes with an organic cotton booster pad that snaps under the soaker.

Smart Bottoms 3.1

smart-bottomsThe Smart Bottoms 3.1 is an all-in-one diaper with an organic cotton soaker.  This particular all-in-one diaper has a long tongue, but you don’t stuff it.  You just flip it on top of the inner and it simply rests against the skin, ensuring that only natural fibers ever touch your little one.  Smart Bottoms is currently only available as a one size diaper.

Bamboo All-in-One Cloth Diapers

Bamboo is an interesting material.  It is derived from the bamboo plant, which grows exceptionally fast.  Because of the rate of growth, bamboo is an infinitely renewable material, so it’s environmentally friendly to grow.  It’s available in several different grades and in organic.  That being said, organic bamboo only refers to the plant being grown without chemical pesticides or fertilizers.  Even organic bamboo still goes through a chemical process in order to create the material from bamboo leaves and the soft inner of the plant.  Bamboo used in all-in-one diapers are typically blended with cotton.

TotsBots Easy Fit & Teeny Fit

totsbots-innerTotsBots has been available in various incarnations over the years.  The two versions that were sold in North America with natural fiber inners are the TotsBots v2 and the v4 “Binky” diapers.  V2 were strictly a bamboo inner, while the v4 is bamboo on one side and minky on the other.  Easy Fit is a one size diaper, while the Teeny Fit is a newborn size diaper.  All varieties are a tongue style insert that can either be stuffed in the “pocket” on the diaper or simply folded over the top.

There are other bamboo all-in-one diapers that I’m not familiar with (like Sweet Pea) or that can be used as pockets, all-in-two, or all-in-one diapers (like Funky Fluff), but I admittedly tend to put those types of diapers in the “pocket” category.
